Our History
Patrick O’Keeffe opened a Funeral Home from his house in early 1937 and so was founded O’Keeffe Funeral Directors.
Patrick was the first Funeral Director in Buttevant and he started to grow the business through the war years and into the 1950/60s.
Patrick’s children, Margo, Mai, Jerry and Edward (Eddie) were always working (helping out) in the business during holidays from school and in the evenings.
Once his education was concluded Eddie joined the business, alongside a supermarket he ran which was located directly across the road from the Funeral home.
Eddie learned every aspect of being a Funeral Director and as the business grew he opened a second funeral home in Bowling Green, Mallow.
Funeral Directing is a unique service and Eddie takes pride in helping bereaved families be at ease and directing them through this difficult and emotional period in their lives.
Eddie’s son Brian recently joined the business and so continues down the path that his grandfather started all those years ago.
The staff at O’Keeffe Funeral Homes are trained and qualified to a very high standard and dedicate themselves to helping families at a difficult time. We as funeral directors, respect and value the families that place their trust in us to care for their loved ones.

Biographies
Edward (Eddie) O’Keeffe
Eddie has been involved in the Funeral business all of his adult life.
From an early age he worked alongside his father and learnt all elements of Funeral Directing, empathy always integral to anything he did.
Eddie’s knowledge and diligence over the years has seen him grow the business and his attention to detail has ensured that ‘quality’ and most importantly the family of the deceased are the most important aspect of the business.
Brian O’Keeffe
Brian is a relative newcomer to the business but as with Eddie he grew up with the business ever present in his youth.
Brian worked for many years in London as a Solicitor but has now joined the business, learning and leaning on the experience of Eddie whilst keeping a keen eye on the future direction of the business.
